Seasonal Changes ...

I have been doing some soul searching during my recent walks amongst the changing colours of Fall.

I am trying to decide if I need to change course with my blogging.

Last year after our return from our French adventure I started a new blog to record my "postcards" about my day to day adventures, my walks, our travels, etc. ... it worked for me as my personal journal, a place to jot down my thoughts and share some of my photos.

Just as the seasons change ...we ourselves change and evolve.

Having said that, I'm not sure what that means for me yet!

I'm feeling at loose ends probably because I haven't got back into the rhythm of posting regularly.

A few more long walks with my thoughts and I'll see which direction I will go.

It is probably one of the most beautiful times of the year to go walking in our area of the world.

The colours in the landscape are changing daily ... there is every shade imaginable ... Like an artist's palette.

Which path will I choose?

Which way would you go?

Sunday Thoughts ....

Why is it that we beat ourselves up ...
As in not feeling good about ourselves ...
Questioning our worth and value in the world !

Here it is October and I haven't posted anything on either blog since late August ...

and you may not have missed my posts but I have missed blogging!

It is time for me to start again to write and post my "Postcards" whether they be about our travels and adventures or just the everyday things that happen in my day to day life ...

So stay tuned while I find my motivation and rhythm to get back to my writing and photo taking ...

Summer Fun

I have not found the time to regularly blog since we returned from this year's European adventure in mid July, my attempts at a routine have been interrupted by other obligations and spending time with the grandchildren ... and now here we are already celebrating/ embracing the last long weekend of Summer!

Tuesday five of the grandchildren will be going back to school and another one will be going to school for the first time on Wednesday.

The other two are still too young!

This past week, I tried to give some of the grandchildren one last blast of "Summer Fun" ...

... We hiked on the trails exploring hidden pathways along the stream in Participark and climbed the rugged hill into town

... We hiked the path and roads that circle the local lake.

... We spent many afternoons at the Water Park for some splish-splashing and Grandpa joined us.

... I gave them the tools ... paint, brushes, canvases and paper to be creative.

... We baked banana bread and corn muffins, and they all helped preparing the meals

... They made their own version of "DQ" sundaes ...from French vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, smarties, cookies'n'cream chocolate bar, homemade chocolate chip cookies

... We spent a "Buzy Bee" afternoon at the Clovermead Adventure Farm ... Riding go-carts, cooling off in the Mist Maze and zip lining plus much more!

Played in the sand piles ...

Wishing everyone a great weekend of "Summer Fun"!

I Am Saying a Little Prayer ...

Trying to find my motivation or should I say "time" to get back into my blogging routine.

There has been many upsetting events happening in the world over the past few weeks ...

Things that can make you feel like you are drowning when you read the newspapers, watch the television broadcasts and browse the internet ...

... some closer to home than one would personally like.

... some affecting dear friends and their families in St. Louis.

... some that make you question how you can truly help people who are suffering from many illnesses, both physically and mentally.

For a bit of respite I stopped reading the papers, stopped watching the news broadcasts and stopped browsing the internet ... I walked around the garden giving myself some time to reflect and I said a little prayer for some "sunshine and light" to be added to everyone's life...

May you feel warmth and love in your life just like these beautiful sunflowers with their smiling faces!

Hope you enjoy a bit of colour shared from my late summer garden...

Long Weekend in Canada

Today is a holiday for most Canadians ... It is called the "Civic Holiday" in most provinces but may also be known as something else.

My friend in France asked me what that was ... and honestly I didn't know the answer.

All I know is that when I was still employed this was one of a very few long weekends/ extra days added to a weekend ... to give me an extra break from work/ my career ... allowing me to spend extra time with family and friends.

It is a statutory holiday that always falls on the first Monday in August... depending in which province you live you may have the day off or you may not and also whom who work for?

This " long weekend " is especially important to me as it falls in the middle of the Summer months and yes summer only lasts so long in our part of the world.

When we lived in the "North" country at our "School house" ... this was always one of the those weekends for impromptu pot lucks with neighbours (permanent or weekenders) whom ever was around!

Fun and busy times ...

Saturday ... market shopping, supplies for the weekend ...

Sunday ... The Friendship Festival in Simcoe ( I think it is called something else now)

Monday ... A get together to celebrate my brother's visit ...

After this busy weekend ... my best friend (Monsieur Honey)  and I are having a quiet moment.

Watching the sunset ... from our courtyard and maybe we will be able to turn on the rope lights ...

Honey says "why are those hydro lines in your picture?".

I see pink in the sky ...

Ah ... A warm night with the lights on ...

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Back Home ...

I'm back home from our two month adventure in Europe ... we split our time between France and Spain this year.

    Tossa de Mar, Spaun

On the Camino...

Cassis. France

It has been a struggle to get back into a routine and adjust to the time change ... we have really suffered with jet lag this time.

I am still writing/ blogging about our adventures in my other blog ...

"Postcards from the Lot" ...

My camera and my memory still have many postcards and Posts to share!

I'll be back here soon writing about my day to day adventures ... Until then come over and read about our travel adventures to Europe on my other blog!

Vacation Stop...

#walkoflife#postcardsfromthelot#europeanadventures#France
#Spain#Lotvalley

Have you noticed that I have been quiet for a couple of weeks.

Life around here has gone a little crazy ... there was the Easter activities, family dinner for 21 of us, sleepovers by some of the family ... and I can't tell you what else ... well I can but I don't want to bore you with the details.

So I had to catch my breath and my walking has suffered because I have let other things become more important.

Soon we will be going on this year's European adventure.

And yes some of my time has been consumed with some of the planning, finalizing details, etc.

I am going to take a break from this blog " Walk of Life Postcards" for now and will return once we come back from our travels to France and Spain.

I will still be blogging and posting on my other blog ...
please do follow my walk thru life and travel with us via my posts and photographs ...

"Postcards from the Lot".
