First Florida Footsteps...

My first "Florida" footsteps happened this morning ... (Monday, October 28th)

I headed out at what I thought was an early hour ... but by the time I showered, dressed in appropriate gear and shoes it was already 8:43AM.

The temperature and air in the resort area was cool, perfect for walking... I walked the pink coral coloured pathways along the US 192 with the intention of doing a quick shop.

I knew we were shopping later so I passed on the "quick pickup", because it would be extra weight to carry back and continued further than intended for my first walk in over a week.

I felt invigorated as I started out, my body had been sitting idle in a car for three days of travel.

When I walked the return trip with the rising sun shining in my face, I got my "sweat on!

As the saying goes something like this...horses sweat, men perspire and ladies get slightly damp...

today I am not sure which category I fall in?

Just over 5 Kms of walking, plus the steps while shopping and some laps in the pool!

Night Walk...

Yesterday, I walked in the cooler temperatures of early evening just at dusk and wondered what these skies would have in store for us tomorrow!

On the Road Again...

Okay... so not much walking has happened this past week, I have been busy with many sorted activities from spending precious time with some of the grandchildren, some computer work, routine household chores and getting ready to go on our road trip.

Today (Friday) we are heading out on our annual jaunt south.

We will travel for three days to reach sunny Florida sometime Sunday afternoon.

My dear husband and the dark days of November are not good friends; so we will extend our Summer by spending a few weeks in the Sunshine State of Florida.

My intention is to get back "on the road again" literally with a daily routine of walking while we are south ... probably in the coolness of the early morning air, before my enthusiasm "evaporates" in the heat.

"Venza" Viewpoints.

Day two of the road trip...

Photography from the passenger seat of a moving car is very challenging.

There is the reflection from the windows, the guard rails almost always cut off your subject, the speed of movement and there is no time to compose your photo.

You must be at the ready at all times.

Yesterday I missed many possible wonderful snapshots... on three different occasions I saw deer grazing along side the Highway, a median blossoming with wild pink and fuschia Prairie flowers and of course the ever changing landscapes ... the fall colours, the forests of evergreens, and the enormous rock cuts in the Appalachian Mountains.

Today, we continued with some high altitude driving on the "Mountaineer Expressway" and tunnelled  thru the mountains, and now the terrain is flatter and the look is more tropical.

There is a spot on our travels "Lake Norman, North Carolina" that when we reach this point, I feel we are closing in on our destination.

When we cross the causeway over the lake I suddenly have an attitude adjustment and I truly feel I'm on vacation and in the south.

Like magic the temperature has risen from a frosty -3C earlier this morning in West Virginia  to 14C in North Carolina.

By the time we reached our intended stop for this evening at the Savannah Gateway the temperature had reached 21 degrees at 4pm... some rest and shower time and then out for dinner.

Tomorrow... the last leg of the road trip!

Please note these pics were taken from inside the travelling "Venza" with my iPad ... soon I'll be able to use my real camera.

Blah Blah ...

Finally, I am ready to blog again.

I am not sure what direction this blog will take or where it will go.

I just know that I continue to enjoy taking photos and I have tried to keep my personal commitment to walking with the desire to get in shape and condition so that in 2014 I may be able to walk part of "The Way" to Santiago de Compostella in Spain with my friend, Madame M.

The title "Blah, blah" is what we would call our chatty time during our walks, and now I will use my blog as a means of chatting.

Join me on my walks and see what I see and hear what I think!

Here is a few photos from my most recent walk in the park.
